Thank you so much Tami! Montenegro was surprising in so many ways, and I feel that with the time of year we went, we were able to experience a bit more of the real Montenegro than one might normally get in the high season

I truly loved reading this narrative on Montenegro. I've become more interested in visiting as I see more information coming out about it, but to be honest, I have never seen such beautiful photos as yours. It is appealing to me that Montenegro is still not completely developed and that the people have retained their culture and their hospitality. It must have been quite the experience to be so welcomed and to interact with the people in such a genuine way. I am drawn to the visions your words portray!

Freshly slaughtered goats. Yikes, no bueno, nothing something I would wanna see. The other views you got of the landscapes were beautiful though, even if you did have to wake up at an ungodly hour lol

What a great post. Love all the descriptions of the landscapes and towns, and I'm always up for a great hike so I appreciate knowing what hikes you did. I love that one included a stop with liquor, meat, and cheese, and the tip to sip. I've heard so many great things about Montenegro and this adds to that. I like traveling in the offseason and its good to know that in January the climate is pleasant. Thanks for sharing!

Interesting! I've heard similar stories from travelers in other parts of the Balkans as well. The rest of the world could learn a thing or two from the hospitality there.

I used to date an Albanian girl who made it clear you always share food an drink with strangers you meet in the mountains. It sounds like Montenegro has similarities to Turkey and Albania. Probably from the shared Ottoman culture.
